ASAP Executive Officers
Chairman - Al Gaspari (united)
Captain Al Gaspari, is the Executive Board Chairman of the Associations of Star Alliance Pilots (ASAP) and a member of the United Air Lines, Alliance & Scope Oversight Committee (ALPA). He has 25 years of professional pilot experience having flown for 3 airlines. Currently he is flying for United Air Lines as Captain on the Boeing 737 based in Los Angeles, California, USA. Gaspari recently served as elected Vice-Chairman of ALPA Council 57 (Los Angeles) for a term of three years. Concurrently, he was a member of the United Air Lines Master Executive Council and MEC Sub-Committee Chairman. In addition, to these leadership positions, he has served as Grievance Committee Chairman (LAX), Local Scheduling Committee, and ALPA Int’l Central Air Safety Committee/Air Safety Committee (America West Airlines). His ALPA volunteer involvement began in early 1995 as the first Secretary/Treasurer (LAX) at Mesa Airlines. In his ALPA volunteer role, he has received a special recognition for the KSNA Class C Airspace Re-Design, participated in ALPA’s Basic Accident Investigation Seminar, and ALPA’s sponsored Legislative Summit. While employed by United, he was furloughed following United’s bankruptcy and flew for regional carrier SkyWest Airlines. He recently celebrated his 17 years of service with United Air Lines and 22 years as an ALPA volunteer. Captain Gaspari holds Type Ratings on the Boeing 787, 767,757, 737, Airbus 320, Embraer 120, Beechcraft King Air 1900 and 300/350.
Vice ChaiR - First Officer Yuka Oishi (ANA)
FO Yuka Oishi was born in Japan and was raised in England and Australia. After returning to Japan for university Yuka earned a BA at the International Christian University in Tokyo and at the University of Leeds in the U.K,, in International Development studies. In 2008, she was hired by ANA as a cadet pilot trainee. She completed her flight training in 2012, which included 18 months at the ANA flight school in Bakersfield, California and became a First Officer for the Boeing 767 late that same year. After 3 years on the 767 she upgraded to First Officer for the B777 in 2016.
Yuka has been a member of Alliance Committee for the All Nippon Airways Crew Association (ACA) since 2014 and has been the Vice Chairman for the same Committee since 2017. She has been a part of the Strategic Planning Group for ASAP since 2016.
Secretary Treasurer - GAry Russell (air Canada)
Chair of the External Affairs Committee for the Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA) and a Nationally Elected member of the ACPA MEC, Captain Gary Russell is a Vancouver based Airbus 320 pilot. He has served several previous roles including ACPA's delegate to ASAP, ACPA's governance review committee, locally elected councillor for the YVR base, and editor of the Air Canada Pilot's magazine: the ACPA Journal. He has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration in Aviation from the University of the Fraser Valley. Gary and his family live off the west coast of Vancouver, on Bowen Island.
